Regal Films’ 50th anievarsary offering Oh My Girl! which features Judy Ann Santos and a cross-dressed Ogie Alcasid as lead stars fell short to top Philippine box office and landed at number 3 on the week of its release. Despite its seemingly endless promotions prior its screening and a great supporting cast which includes Sharon Cuneta and Regine Velasquez, OMG! did not manage to surpass box office earnings of a Sandra Bullock starrer, The Proposal, a romantic comedy flick with Ryan Reynolds which is Bullock’s first number one film in 10 years and the previous week’s top grosser Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince which slipped a notch lower.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the 6th franchise of the Harry Potter series is 2009’s 3rd Highest grossing film in the Philippines as of August behind Terminator Revenge of the Fallen and Star Cinema’s You Changed My Life at the top and second spot repectively. Harry Potter Series is the top grossing franchise in the country to date which earned more than a billion pesos at the box office.
